President Donald Trump said Monday he doesn’t worry about Donald Trump Jr. using the alias Rob Goldstone to communicate with Russian government officials.
Speaking at a news conference, Trump said that the president did not send Rob Goldstong the email in July 2016, though the White House has been working to confirm that.
“There is no way that this person would ever send an email with that email address,” Trump said.
Trump Jr. did not respond to a request for comment.
The president was in Washington on Monday to hold a roundtable with reporters about the administration’s legislative agenda, which includes legislation aimed at reducing the budget deficit.
He also discussed the recent arrest of former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos on charges of lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian officials.
